What's New in DevTreks October 22, 2020 The Social Performance Analysis tutorial is being edited, upgraded, and expanded to reflect recent advances in sustainability standard setting (i.e. a Refreshing amount of work is happening throughout the world). August 07, 2020 Reminder -although the health care and social performance analyses (i.e. example 6) tutorials suggest that the DevTreks source can assist with short time crises (i.e. Your medical bills tell secrets, new york times, aug 07, 2020), we recommend using consequential digital activism as the context. June 30, 2020 The devtreks.org SSL certificate expired 10 days ago (while I was camping). Apologies for the 'site not secure message' during that period. DevTreks has taken some time off from development -24 tutorials is plenty for now. April 01, 2020 Two videos explaining Version 2.2.0 have been added to the Social Performance tutorial. The videos discuss institutional failures that explain, from DevTreks' view, important root causes of short term and long term crises. March 24, 2020 The Source Code tutorial has been updated. The tutorial mentions that the Social Performance Analysis may reemphasize the younger generations' insight that community capital institutions, not just health care systems, need reform. March 23, 2020 Version 2.2.0 passed its initial cloud tests, but will continue to be tested before the source tutorial is updated. Several additional references must also be updated. March 06, 2020 Version 2.2.0 has started being pushed to github, but won't be official until the source tutorial has been updated. This version upgraded to NetCore3.1 and SqlServer Express 2019. December 20, 2019 The SDG Plan reference confirms that Version 2.2.0 is finally headed in the right direction. DevTreks appears to be a right approach, after all, for social sustainability media platforms. December 05, 2019 The Health Care Analysis tutorial has been updated with recent advances in that field. November 08, 2019 The SDG Plan Reference, and underlying RCA Framework, has been updated with the TEEB's "Measuring What Matters in Agriculture and Food Systems (2018)". November 01, 2019 The Malnutrition tutorial reflects current 2.2.0 "sustainability upgrades" being done for many tutorials. October 18, 2019 1. Devtreks 2.2.0 has started being pushed to github. Although this source reflects an upgrade to .NetCore 3.0, the targeted platform is .NetCore 3.1, with its 3 year support. 2. Version 2.2.0 focuses on upgraded code, not new features, such as machine learning. Some tutorials, such as Malnutrition, will be updated with the improvements (i.e. users still need to work with software developers, but not because of buggy code). October 05, 2019 Whats really new: 1. DevTreks 2.2.0 has been successfully upgraded to .NetCore 3.0 but won't be added to github until some of the newer patterns are also adopted and tested. 2. The older html technologies won't be updated because they work with all major browsers and because that may not change during .NetCore 3.1's 3 year life (i.e. 'older' still means html5). 3. Early machine learning testing focused on upgrading DevTreksStatsApi to microservices, but has not been successful yet. It's still not clear how much of that work is appropriate for a small ngo. September 27, 2019 Version 2.2.0 has been on hold -machine learning technologies are still maturing. More importantly, .NetCore 3.0 is now out and DevTreks has to update some older html technologies to newer ones. The next entry will firm up the direction chosen (and this developer has decided not to retire yet). May 24, 2019 Version 2.2.0, Machine Learning for SDG Planning, is under development. March 28, 2019 Documentation for 2.1.8 can be found in the new SDG Plan reference and in the Source Code reference. A video or two will come out shortly. March 26, 2019 Version 2.1.8 has started cloud testing and will be completed when the source code reference is updated. March 07, 2019 Version 2.1.8 has started being pushed to the 2.1 github branch, but will not be official until the tutorial is finished. January 18, 2019 The 2.1.8 Preview has progressed to the point that [imperfect] algorithms can be developed. Social budgeting appears to a right approach, after all, for uniform sustainability scores. December 06, 2018 The 2.1.8 Preview has been updated with the UNEP's Emissions Gap Report and EC's PEF and OEF initiatives. November 28, 2018 The 2.1.8 Preview has been updated with the USGCRP's Fourth National Climate Assessment. Nov 15, 2018 A preview of 2.1.8 has been added to What's New. Oct 10, 2018 Version 2.1.8 development will focus on the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5ºC. New algorithm[s] will attempt to integrate some of their climate change recommendations with the SDG and SDRR at local community and business scale. Sept 19, 2018 Zip files of most videos are starting to become available. Our site is not commercial and does not stream videos well. Sept 18, 2018 Version 2.1.6 is official. Tutorials are still being upgraded to reference this version's features. Sept 15, 2018 Most of the disaster risk reduction examples passed their tests on localhost and the cloud. More tests will be run next week, but 216 looks solid. Sept 13, 2018 Version 2.1.6 is undergoing testing on Azure. The source has been pushed to the devtreks.2.1 github branch. This version will not be official until testing is finished. About 8 references have been updated to reflect this version. Most focus on climate change and the consequences of weakened environmental regs. Sept 04. 2018 The Azure site hosting DevTreks experienced a severe weather event causing the site to go down for several hours. Version 2.1.6 will be released shortly -as an aspnetcore 2.1 upgrade and fixes for bugs found in the August tutorial upgrades. July 27, 2018 DevTreks (i.e. me) has decided to upgrade most tutorials in August (i.e. because the Social Performance references are now at ~650 pages). The NPV Calculation tutorials are the 1st to be upgraded. June 28, 2018 DevTreks has experienced some bouts of unresponsiveness recently. A reminder, we're a small ngo with a small budget and site. Our primary responsibility is source code development, not commercial site testing (i.e. video streaming). A lightweight version of DevTreks is currently being investigated. Even if development is successful and responsiveness increases on the sibling site, we still will not focus on commercial grade site development. Current history suggests that the ideas promoted on this site may be more important than site metrics. June 22, 2018 A Preview of Version 2.1.6 has been added to the Source Code reference under What's New. This version may take a while. June 19, 2018 A June 18, 2018 automatic Windows 10 update appears to have caused the SqlExpress localhost database connection to stop working. The fix is to install Version 17.7 of SqlServer Management Studio, as found at: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/download-sql-server-management-studio-ssms?view=sql-server-2017 The source code tutorial has been upgraded to reflect the SqlServer 2017 upgrade. June 08, 2018 The description for the Social Performance Analysis 3 reference has been updated to reflect current needs. June 01, 2018 3 of the Performance Analysis references have been updated with the latest code. The code has been pushed to github and Version 2.1.6 development starts. May 30, 2018 The new machine learning calculator patterns have introduced bugs in older calculators. The Performance Analysis tutorials will be updated when the bug fixes have been pushed to github. May 17, 2018 A video overview of DevTreks and Version 2.1.4 has been posted to What's New and the Social Performance 3 (SPA3) tutorial. May 16, 2018 Version 2.1.4 is being tested on the cloud. It will be official when the source code tutorial is updated. The latest source has been pushed to github. May 02, 2018 New machine learning algos have started being pushed to github, but won't be official until 2.1.4 is released. The Social Performance Analysis 3 reference explains the upgraded calculator patterns used by the new ML algos. April 06, 2018 2.1.4 is simplifing and strengthening the calculator patterns to make them reasonably consistent with the R and Python machine learning patterns. The new patterns are being pushed to github but won't be official until 2.1.4 is released. Adding Indicator data to Score.DataURL has been deprecated, except for legacy data, in favor of the Indicator.URL property. References are being updated to document the changes. March 30, 2018 Subalgorithms 17 and 18 have been pushed to github, but will not be official until 2.1.4 is released. March 2, 2018 The CTAP tutorial and algorithms are being reviewed and revised to make them part of the Social Performance Analysis series. The next release will move that 4 part series into it's own tutorial. December 21, 2017 The Social Performance Assessment 3 reference, under What's New, is being actively updated with Previews of Version 2.1.4. December 1, 2017 A video introduction to Version 2.1.2 has been posted to Whats New. Note that the correct link to the db is found in the ReadMe.txt file. November 22, 2017 The Version 2.1.2 source has started being pushed to github, but will not be official until tests are finished. October 26, 2017 The Social Performance Assessment 2 reference, under What's New, is being actively updated with Previews of Version 2.1.2.
